The Hidden Curriculum of Coping: A Parent’s Perspective on Masking, Regulation, and Transitions explores the often-unseen emotional and cognitive work autistic students do to navigate school environments. Drawing on lived parent experience, this session highlights how masking, sensory regulation, and daily transitions can shape a child’s ability to learn, connect, and feel safe at school. Participants will gain insight into the “hidden curriculum” autistic students manage internally and how this can impact behaviour, fatigue, and well-being. The presentation will also offer practical considerations for educators seeking to create more responsive and supportive learning environments.
