Cutting Through the Noise - 211 Nova Scotia

09:15 - 10:15 - (Yellow 2811)

13:00 - 14:00 - (Yellow 2811)

Schools don't have to solve every problem — they need to know where to turn when a need extends beyond the classroom. 211 Nova Scotia is a free, confidential service that connects people of all ages with community, social, health, housing, food and other supports across the province. Learn how 211NS can help school communities navigate complex and intersecting needs and connect students and families to the right support at the right time.

In this session, we'll explore how 211NS can complement the work of teachers, administrators, guidance counsellors, and SchoolsPlus Community Outreach Workers — helping staff navigate needs that fall outside their role, become more challenging to navigate, or go beyond the support available through the school.

Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of:

  • When and how to use 211NS as a resource for students and families

  • How 211NS can complement the work of school staff and SchoolsPlus Community Outreach Workers

  • How 211NS connects people to community, social, health, housing, food and other supports

  • How stronger connections between schools and community services can strengthen the support system for students and families
