Equity in Action: Supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ Students and Staff

Morning Concurrent Session: 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. - Bedford

In line with the theme of this conference, “Connecting Perspective: Leading with Empathy,” this session explores how school administrators can lead change against homophobia and transphobia. Through practical tools, policies, and case studies, participants will learn how to prevent harm, respond to incidents, and embed 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion into school culture. The workshop highlights protective factors like inclusive curricula and Gender-Sexuality Alliance (formally Gay-Straight Alliance), while equipping administrators to model empathy-driven leadership that challenges bias and fosters safer, more welcoming environments where all students can thrive.
